Wow, what a difference a week of warm weather makes! Steve has been out checking our secret spots on the Kootenay River and he got into some great Bull Trout. There were also a few nice Cutthroat that were eager to go after the bully flies.

Water Conditions:

Clear and Cold. Little if any bank ice on the lower end of the river.

Hatches:

Chucking streamers for Big Bull Trout, we weren’t paying attention to the bugs. It is safe to say we didn’t see any hatch.

Flies to Use:

Bunnies, Zonkers, big wooly buggers, Mudlers.

Commentary:

Overall a beautiful Day! Give us a call if you want an early season Float or walk and wade on the Kootenay. I expect conditions will be great as long as the weather is warm. We are also fishing the Elk River so keep that in mind as well.
