Update on the Dirty Elk!

The mud has started to dissipate but we expect flushes throughout the next few days. You might be lucky if you can fish between these flushes but we won't make any promises on water clarity at this time. The problem is that TECK Coal Line Creek Operations had an on site slide that occurred due to heavy rainfall early Sunday morning. According to TECK the slide was not due to mining operations but it blocked the canyon access road and conveyor. Water has started to build behind this slide and is creating a dangerous situation should there be a large release. I would expect their remediation process will create sporadic issues of clarity in the Elk River until their work is done. Until then it will be difficult to predict river condtions.  Here is a photo off facebook.
