The Glory Days

Most who fish the Elk know that September is a great month to enjoy the solitude of the river.
Already into the second week of September it's hard to belive that the summer months have passed us so quickly. The leaves are barly holding on... wating for the cooler temperatures to stimulate the thoughts of fall and drop their leaves. The tamaracks are already starting to change color. The water levels are consistently dropping with the fall temperatures but the sun comes out keeping the Hoppers and Ant fishing very productive.
As of September 1,09 many of the tributaries and smaller creeks have closed for the season but the Elk, Michel and the lower Fording and Wigwam are still open and fishing excellent.
In September don't worry about getting up early, let the water warm up and the fishing will pick up with the temperatures.
Next week Fernie will be hosting the Canadian National Fly Fishing Championchips from September 21-26. Come out and enjoy the action.
See you all soon for your next great adventure
